Yes, it sounds too easy and too good to be true. Still, it is not fiction, but a method currently in practice. From the description of the way it works, it sounded plausible to me (but of course I am not a biology major).

Even if it works for everyone, unfortunately, you still need a bit of willpower to NOT go back to shooting up or gulping those pills. It removes the physical need, not the habit itself (which, as ex-smokers know well, is the worst part of kicking the addiction).

Re Freud & cocaine - I find it quite fun to wonder just how much of his world view and theories were affected by his cocaine habit :-)
