according to a genetic study, early modern humans followed the beach, possibly lured by a seafood diet.

For some time it has been suspected that humans lost their hair covering (and gained a "diving reflex") because of their aquatic habitat. It also can explain a pathway to upright walking. Of course the new theories don't get accepted until the proponents of the previous theories retire.
