Yes, but that is a trait that comes from way-way back, from the time that the first five-toed creatures crawled out of the sea. It's seen in all mammals. The human-aquatic phase was more likely a few hundred thousand years ago when some event killed out all of the land based humans, leaving only those adapted for coastal habitat. Studies indicate that the entire population of humans was reduced to about 10,000 individuals at that time. That is why humans worldwide are still so closely related.
