Jorgen,

My experience suggests that properly integrating acquisitions is never simple or easy. It is a very demanding task to integrate the variety of systems, software and supply chains. Often the systems are incompatible, so it is difficult to achieve harmony. This can result in discontinuities in the flow of vital information through a corporation, similar to a nerve system disorder. Companies have sometimes failed due to failure to integrate an acquisition, like swallowing a fish that is too big.

For any company that makes as many acquisitions as Scansoft has, integration must be a major task. I am simply inquiring into how the task is proceeding and how much management focus is diverted to it.
