Where I think the media is off wrt to Saddams accomplishments are the non-campaign or war related deaths. He had a number of significant campaigns against Kurds & Shittes. Those could be viewed as wars or civil wars. Figures of 30K/year are tossed around for the rest of the time. Those are the figures I doubt.

There's no doubt that the streets were safer under Saddam.

That was my point. So we agree here. The US needs to get things back to that point, without being a tyrant about it. Thats the fix we are in.

Not that I'm claiming Saddam wasn't a monster, but lies are lies - at least Blair ADMITS to lying. That's a step up from OUR fearless leader.
