I don't know any failures personally- so I can't say who falls harder or fails worse, folks who smoke pot, or folks who drink- but it is obvious that alchol cause way more crime and violence. When I see the street people in SF, they all have bottles- they aren't smoking reefer. So judging by the studies (and the governments own studies on pot and alcohol) I have to tell you that logically, alcohol looks a whole heck worse to me than pot, and since it looks that way, I can't see the point criminalizing it- since we are paying a LOT for our war on pot, and we aren't winning it. At some point I think you have to cut your losses, even when you think it's wrong. For example, I hate prostitution- but it is NEVER going away, and I think it would be better if it were legal. My "conviction" is that it degrades women, but logically I know it has always existed and probably always will, and I would rather it were safe and legal, than illegal.
