Brian, valid point, but I'm wondering why they need to come
to the US to get financing when the Chinese government has,
and still does, heavily subsidize multiple industries. I
have a philosophical business disagreement with lending a
massive amount of money and then using those US funds to buy
US products where they are inaccessible, what is the collateral, how do you forclose on
a potential default? What is the risk to SMIC if they go belly up?

Basically, the US taxpayer will be burdened with the entire
financial risk and will be supporting the increased exportation of high technology related chip manufacturing jobs
to China. I'd rather use US taxpayer money FOR THE BENEFIT
OF US CHIP COMPANIES and American jobs. Let's build some
more fabs in the US or use the money to fund alternative
energy R&D and manufacturing. AMERICA FIRST!
