My gripe is that we are not encouraging excellence by focusing on the, "No child left behind," initiative. Both my wife and I are retired academics and we have watched curricula become increasingly watered down. Unless we make math more exciting, and focus on excellence, we will fall further behind. However, look at the resistance that Larry Summers got when he tried to emphasize exactly that at Harvard. fred
