yesterday, for those interested, was to palestinians the day of al-Nakba, commemmorated as anniversary of the disaster that befell them in 1948

Guess it was a mistake for the Arabs to try a war of conquest in 1948 instead of accepting partition, yes? Winning a war always sound so nasty, especially if you skip mentioning that there was a war, and who started it. What sort of disaster would have befallen the Jews had they lost? Do you think any of them would have survived it?

It was also, in hindsight, not so bright for the entire ruling class of Arab Palestine to bug out before the end of the Mandate. Sort of prejudiced the outcome. They seem to have been deficient in national feeling, or something.

That was then, this is now. Israel is a done deal; it is not going away. The Palestinians can whine forever, or they can make a deal and build their own state. So far, they have prefered to whine. And blow innocent people up.
