Rather's story on Bush was true. Bush definitely used his family name to avoid war and get out of the Guard early and often. The source Rather used was probably a Karl Rove plant. Rove has a history of doing these kind of things in his campaigns. Rather was snookered by someone. But the story can be proven without the faulty source. Attacking the press won't work. The rightwing has taken over much of the press and cowed the rest into being extra cautious. Which is why Gannongate hasn't been reported on much, a much bigger scandal than Monica Lewinsky.
