While America is watching the “dumbing down” of our MSM [ main stream media] with every waking morn we are watching the most beautiful birth of regular citizens who, with their own power of their own press are creating their equivalent of “Face The Nation”, “This Week In Politics”, and Fox’s “fair and balanced” news. A difference may be that the bloggers are not owned by GE, Rupert Murdoch, or Viacom. Bloggers don’t have to serve any master but their own souls. These reborn Tom Paines and Benjamin Franklins can now reach the masses, where no one can fire them or dictate the content of their opinions. The major cable news networks are even dedicating some of their broadcast time to covering the blogs. Oh my. Are they crying “uncle”? Remember when we used to get home from our daily tasks and tuned to the evening news with Dan, or Tom, or Walter? There was our source of the pertinent stories of where we were in the world and the nation. The important stories were being told. We were satisfied. We were glued into them. The glue has melted. With our ability to read the many blogs at our own leisure we now are starting to know what’s going on before 6:30 PM your time arrives. Plus we don’t have to tolerate 10 minutes out of every 30 with adds for the drugs we need and the 9 bad effects they have on us in case we have symptoms that exclude us from a four hour erection. The ranks of us who are more friendly with a fellow named “Kos” and a gal named “Arianna” are swelling while the traditional newsreaders telling us endlessly about Michael and some girl who ran away from her upcoming marriage are dwindling. Well the ever-growing blogger “tail” on this big ‘ole mainstream canine is causing rhetorical butt-dragging for our trusty doggie. Who knows, as the Neilson’s drop with our MSM and the viewership of our blessed blogs go up we may have created the best of monsters. Hoping for a real new “mania” I remain sincerely yours, SiouxPal
