I am registered independent. Only because the nuances no longer matter do you see me as a Dem.

I'm just registered to vote, not as a member of any party or offically as an independent (thats how it works in VA), but I think you have called me a Republican, and I wouldn't object.

How many times have you voted for the Republican candidate for president? Ever? How about senator?

I have voted for GOPers on a number of occasions......for governor, for mayor and for the House of Reps as well as lesser positions. First of all, these are CA GOPers.......a very different breed from the rest [see Arnold]. Secondly, in the West, you don't know the person's party unless you dig for it. Party distinctions are not emphasized. So on a couple of occasions I unknowingly voted for a GOPer. But again, the party distinctions are not as great in the West, or least they weren't until 2000.

And in general, people who live on the West coast tend to be more liberal....hence the term, the Left coast.
