NewsWeek disagrees with you. They claim their fact checker at the pentagon did not verify the story. Why are you arguing with NewsWeek?

you really need to get your head out of the sand

there is no compunction whatsoever to protect an anonymous single 'unnamed' single source behind a HIGHLY sensitive story during wartime...

newsweak needs to come clean about their 'source'

until they do, they will be a journalistic laughingstock

the editor needs to step forward on this and deal with the consequences of their blunder

much better for them to do a full mea culpa and name names after their rush to judgement

Grainne, sometimes you are just a little wrong and sometimes you are ridiculously wrong. In this case you are blatantly, ridiculously wrong. You have no idea what factual standards journalists commit to in publications like NewsWeek. I do. I can recommend a couple of books about it, because clearly you need to get educated.

NewsWeek disagrees with you. So take it up with them.
