There were concerted efforts at the beginning of that time to rehabilitate her, and those efforts were unsuccessful. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion re this case, but saying that people on the side you don't agree with have an "illogically held belief system" seems very polarizing and unnecessarily insulting to me.
