THE BELIZE AUDUBON SOCIETY IS HOSTING BIRDLIFEPARTNERS FROM COUNTRIES OF THE
WESTERN HEMISPHERE:

The Belize Audubon Society is hosting Birdlife Partners representing the countries of the Western Hemisphere at a meeting in Belize this week. This Fourth Birdlife International Partnership in the Americas meeting, provides an opportunity for the sharing and exchange of information and experience, related to birds and biodiversity conservation in the Americas and globally. Delegates from Belize and other countries
are also assessing the status of the Important Bird Areas Program and develop a strategy for completing the identification of all the important areas in the Americas.
The first 2 days of presentations and plenary sessions is also being attended by 30 local protected areas management organizations and conservation partners. The Belize Audubon Society, the Birdlife Partner for Belize co-manages 9 protected areas that play an important role in the conservation of biodiversity including resident and migratory birds. In particular, the organization manages the Crooked !
Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, home to almost 3 hundred species of birds.
