why did they publish it ? to embarrass the military perhaps. John, there's been a lot of speculation about why Newsweek did what it did. What I'm wondering, instead, is why, if what Newsweek did was so obviously invalid and so dangerous, no one made an issue of it before it manifested in riots. It's all well and good to pound Newsweek for what it did. The criticism is deserved. But there's also a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking if not downright hypocrisy in that pounding.
