Perhaps. However, market looks forward and may consider lu as a turn around play. As lu cut costs and potential for increasing sales and earnings are now higher market may continue rewarding lu going forward as well.

There is clearly a great deal of risk here given lu's management and history so I am not looking at the stock as a safe investment like a saving account. I consider the potential rewards here justifies the risks very well.

Any other thoughts on trailing sales?

Elroy, You make some very good points but you did miss that there is momentum turning to LU's favor. For last quarter even without a pension credit LU was profitable (the first quarter in quite some time that this could be said for...). Granted, LU has a terrible track record... in the past... But, Wireless sales just grew by 33%... They have a dominant position in CDMA and now UMTS... they are undoubtedly the strongest 3G player. NT is choking especially in wireless. Did you see that with yesterday's result's they only recorded a 4% gain in the hot wireless sector?

I think LU is a potential breakout candidate. The strongest European players are headed for trouble: Alcatel, Siemens... LU is going to have the advantage of being the fastest growing telecom vendor when the buying window again opens.

Without the telecom meltdown and the need to change to survive LU wouldn't have been a going concern for very long... I believe that this company has changed it's way and has a solid grip on the future.
