I was watching the TV series "24" last night. At this point in the series there is a nuclear warhead fired at an unknown city in the US. The speaker of the house sensing that the president may be overstressed was gunning to take over the executive branch as his constitutional right without regards to the looming disaster. One of the aids asks president Palmer, "You think he will put his own political agenda ahead of the good of the nation?!" to which Palmer answered, "He does not think in such terms. To him they are one and the same".

It very much reminded me of the attitudes of Neocons in general and the Israeli lobby in particular. To them, the good of Israel at all costs is the same as the good of US, or so they have deceived themselves.
