I'm the one being duped.

In psychological terms it's referred to as letting bad become normal. In essence, you are so used to being duped that you don't recognize the process anymore. It's a natural consequence of the way the human mind eliminates detail to see the "big picture". The cure is to get a change in environment for awhile which will put your own world into perspective once again, say a month in Mexico or the Phillipines where you can get away from the TV.
