Religion and Law have no place being intertwined especially now that our culture is becoming so mixed. Religious laws are so varied that enforcing them on the general population is just plain wrong. Outlawing Pork for example is one that comes to mind. So by simply removing Marriage from the Law books, and placing it firmly in the hands of the Churches, and replacing Civil Marriage with Civil Unions for all, all Canadians will be equal before the Law, and the religious institution of Marriage will be saved as a religious institution...Civil divorce is already different from a religious divorce, with civil divorce not recognised by some religions, so let us complete the cycle. The various religions do not have to recognise any civil union as a valid marriage within their religion, just as they do not have to recognise a civil divorce........ On abortion I thought abortion was only practised to a certain stage of the pregnancy, at 9 months I would have thought that a baby would have been born alive.... Why would anyone go through 9 months of pregnancy and then have an abortion?????
