FWIW,
subscription based services will not promote the "lock in" of customers. In fact, they promote just the opposite. If you have to pay $6.00 next month to your current subscription provider to have access to all your favorite tunes, or $6.00 next month to some new provider to have access to all your favorite tunes, you just won't care. The only barrier to switching is the effort of downloading your songs again. With a purchase model, of course, with proprietary software/hardware, you will be stuck. Not sure how this will play out. But maybe Apple shouuld think about offering a parallel subscription service if for no other reason than to choke off competition before it gets started.
