Bush-Rove smeared McCain's war record completely. See the film "Bush's brain" or search for a complete description of the terrible smear campaign Bush used to trip up McCain in SC. Otherwise, McCain would have been the GOP nominee after he thrashed GW in New Hampshire. Bush-Rove owe everything to their smear campaigns against Silver Star winning war heros. They're experts at it. They'd smear you too if you were in their way. They smear everyone who threatens them.
