Oh, I wasn't talking about my client's own business dealings. The documents in question had nothing to do with his personal affairs, or even his employment with the World Bank. He was a pack rat and hung on to every document he ever encountered, including many that didn't concern him. I have a duty to protect the secrets and confidences of my client, but my client hasn't worked for the World Bank for decades, and the World Bank isn't my client.

Some would be of great interest to historians. As an analogy, suppose my client worked for the CIA, and somehow was in possession of decades-old communications between someone trying to overthrow another country and people in our government (not him) as to whether we would support this cause or not. Destroy or not? There's the dilemma.

At any rate, don't worry, I am destroying them. The last of it gets shredded today and I move on.
