Kerry might have won the 2004 election. But even if he didn't, he came close and earned consideration for another shot. In which case he might win. Why not? All he'd need would be 2% more votes. That's not a huge deal.

Reagan also lost the first time he ran. As did Nixon. The important thing is whether you give up or not after you lose. Kerry hasn't. But will he get nominated again? Time will tell. There are several other strong contenders for 2008. and then could he beat the GOP nominee? Who knows? By then the GOP rightwing could be totally discredited. Also, third party candidates are always wild cards.
