Haqi, you got it all wrong and showed woeful ignorance to boot.
<What you do in NZ is your business, and has nothing to to with America.>
Actually, it is. I invest in the USA and buy things from USA companies. What I do here has got something to do with the the USA. Other NZers also buy goods and services from the USA and sell to them. Similarly around the world. That's why the USA has military bases all over the place. It's a globalized world and everything has to do with everywhere else. That's why the USA comments on what goes on even way out there in Uzbekistan. [Note fashionable use of even - the Uzbeks probably think they aren't "way out there"]
<It is that flag that bought the freedoms that this country offers to its citizens. Yes there are too many insignificant laws on the books, and should be removed, but there is no law calling for prosecution for burning of the flag.>
It wasn't the flag that brought freedom. It was the philosophical ideas of people who were backed by the crowd who brought the freedom. The flag is just an inanimate object which people use as a symbol from time to time. Why do you think that those philosophical harbingers of freedom didn't bother making it unconstitutional to desecrate the flag [or the Bible, or other things]?
<<iThere's nothing wrong with us.>
Hahahaha! Well, you are sort of right, you are perfect, except for an incy wincy big of modesty lacking. If you could just get your modesty levels up a little, then you really would be perfect, the prisons would be empty, gun deaths reduced to the level of Japan, drug suppliers having to get a real job, etc ... There'd be no need for God, you could take over, being perfect, with nothing wrong at all.
<When you compare the contributions that America has given to the entire world, to what NZ, has done, you guys don't come out looking very helpful to the rest of the world. You're holed up on two islands, basically removed from the rest of the world.>
"Given" is a different word from "sold". The USA has been economically enormously productive and an example of what economic freedom enables. There are lots of great attributes. But who has done the 'giving' is an interesting question.
There are minor details though, such as the USA being very slow to join in stopping Adolf's horrific march across Europe. While NZ troops were in battle, the USA was hiding behind an ocean. Yes, your diddle is bigger than mine. You are wonderful and perfect.
<Since you are against us telling any of our citizens what to do, or not to do, maybe we should turn our backs on murder in this country. Prosecuting murderers is taking away something they want to do, which you seem to think is control by Big Brother. Your basic argument is to allow crime without penalty.>
Haqi, I know it's a stretch of the imagination, but that's not in the slightest what I was saying. It's amazing what people can wrongly conclude.
Trying again, there are things called victimless crimes. Such as, for example, trampling on a flag, throwing a book down a dunny [provided the person owns the book and the dunny and doesn't block somebody else's], making heretical statements, thinking wrong thoughts. Then is a bunch of crimes with victims, such as murder, stealing, damaging, obstructing, polluting, defrauding, risking others' lives. Surely you can see the difference, though I know that many [or most] people are so intellectually handicapped and desperate to dominate other people that they can't.
I'm all for penalties for crimes with actual victims.
<Since you are not an American, maybe you should be attending to the situations in NZ, and keep your nose out of those in America.>
Hahahaha!! Oh Haqi, you are such a comic. How are things going in Iraq? I thought I heard Condoleezza having an opinion about Uzbekistan the other day. Heard of Darfur? Colin Powell was putting some pressure on there. Should I search your posts for any reference to anywhere outside the USA? Giggle.
Your arguments are remarkably like what one would hear in a children's playground:
Mine's bigger than yours, I'm really cool and you are a nobody, Yeah, well, what have you done? Mind your own business, You're not in our gang, which is the best, And your feet stink.
