My opposition to the nuke option has more to do with the lifetime nature of the position. I am uncomfortable with 51 votes settling these matters. Picture a time when the dems rule and wildly pro-abortion, pro-euthenasia, folks are routinely confirmed because the no-filibuster rule in place. I think it would be better for parties to moderate their choices and engage in compromises and give and take than going this route. WE shouldnt get so hung up about one judge or another and aba ratings. Life is unfair and some good folks dont get confirmed. Add bolton to the mix and i for the life of me cant see how republicans think they are gaining overall popular support among the non-base folks. mike
