Right-o. The US Military will be destroyed at the pace it's going and by as early as 2006. This by the US Military's own reckoning. Isn't it time that everyone believe them when they say this? Getting the heck out of Iraq may be our ONLY OPTION at the rate things are going. We are also going to simply run out of money. Republicans have to: 1. Call on their minions to enlist immediately (it still takes, what, a year to train new recruits) to put their lives where their mouths and their votes were. 2. Initiate a general draft. 3. Openly commit billions more for all of the equipment that is getting ground down in the desert. Repair facilities are already running at full blast and we're probably ready to run out of something (food, ammo, steel plates, body armor) again. All of these require immediate action since it takes a very long time to get up and running. The draft takes 6 weeks just to get the paperwork going and then the recruits need to be trained and shipped into Iraq. If there are 5,000 openly AWOL and 30,000 who have called into the Quakers looking for a way out, the problem just gets worse. Goodness gracious if Bush opens yet another front in Iran or Syria or if NK spins out of control. Ditto Uzbekistan where we have a base.
