re: Your post just points out the current unrest and insurgent movement. We all know about this... Pointing out that there is violence and insecurity in parts of Iraq is just dwelling on the obvious. The solution is of course to neutralize the propogators of the violence, and the more home grown the neutralizing force, the better.

I read this morning that as many car bomb went off in Baghdad in the last month as in all of last year. That the generals have given up on the idea that we can start a gradual withdrawal, and that at least one has said we are there indefinitely.

We HAVE BEEN TRYING TO "neutralize the propogators" FOR TWO YEARS... and they are getting STRONGER. It's not fucking working, get it through your thick skull. There are centuries old religious and ethnic forces at work here, there is money from the second largest oil reserve in the world to foster competition and corruption, there is no central authority, there is no infrastructure, there is no foundation to build cooperation. All there is is civil war. Don't you think it's presumptuous to believe we can solve the centuries old problems between the Shia and the Sunnies?

Read the news. Right now, this is the most screwed up country in the world, maybe one of the most screwed up countries the world has EVER seen. And it's getting worse.
