I think they found out it's less risk to engage the weak (or unarmed as the case may be). And have less risk of people shooting back at them. And it hurts the US just as much. almost.

Start a civil war and make headlines in the USA.

It's just a lot safer. Meanwhile. the US servicemen. With his Howitzer guarding the petrol station. stands at attention.

crazy world....

I think at this point they just want to do ANYTHING to hurt the USA for what they ahve been through....

thats really sad.

All of that reads like smart management setting low expectations that can be beaten - nothing concrete in that article other than a count of car bombs per month. Car bombs can't lead a population, and don't garner support.

``It's much more likely to succeed, but it could still fail.''

So?

Your article reads like a discussion of "concerns" about Iraq, where the "good part" was left out and the "bad part" alone was dwelt on.

Does this article convince you for some reason that the Iraqi civil defense force with coalition support will be unable to neutralize the insurgent killer groups??

>which have resulted in the arrest of 1,100 suspects in Baghdad alone in the past 80 days

My friend in Iraq told me a couple of months ago that all he's doing these days is going from door to door at night and arresting people. When I asked him if many turned out to have actually done something wrong, he went quiet for a minute and then changed the subject. That's what he does when he can't answer a military question for fear of getting in trouble.
