RE: "In my part of the USA, answering a question with a question was considered impolite when I was growing up. I guess things have changed"

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be impolite. Just dig your heels in with me.

Questions can unearth concepts.

Sometimes I actually prefer if someone asks me a question, rather than answers my question, because it can get to the right issue.

RE: "the reason it couldn't mean what it sounded like."

You are assuming cellular companies need to provide VoIP services, in order for cellular standards to superscede Cisco's VoIP standards.

But it would be an incorrect assumption to think a user would not expect to put a bottle cap on coke, if there's an existing user standard to put a bottle cap on pepsi.

An expectation in one area can indeed set the standard in another area. This is the underlying concept.

So if you've got 1 billion mobile consumers, they set the user standards for any handset, even if it's a voip handset in corporate America. A specific example was previously posted I think this week (search on CIO.)
