You can drive to Bainbridge (via the Agate Pass bridge), but the easiest way from Seattle is to take the Bainbridge Ferry. Otherwise, you have to take one of the other ferries (Edmonds-Kingston, Fauntleroy-Southworth) and drive up, or you can drive to Tacoma, over the Gig Harbor Bridge and then up

If you're in Seattle and going to Bainbridge, and don't want to spend a huge abount of time doing it, you take the ferry.

I mentioned $18 as I recalled that figure from what someone told me. I can't vouch 100% for its accuracy.

Edit: I did some looking and came up with this.
