Hmmmm.... Any benefit to the people of the ECU countries is of a secondary consideration. ECU was put in place so the banks and industrial sectors of the various countries could become multicountry--multinational conglomerates extending their domination over the entire European community and in the process compete with Asia and the USA. One can see this process of consolidation has already begun. If you consider Walmart Type companies as a God send to the people, then you should be in seventh heaven. There are some flaws in my argument... the recent inclusion of backwater countries will see significant growth... as the need for cheap labor sucks in the multies...!!!
