Certainly they are by almost any measure wealthier then most of the rest of the world and doing ok compared to the typical family of four over most of our history.

Odd? You are suggesting that people who make only $50k should not complain because there are poorer people in other countries. Maybe patronizing is not the right word.....maybe condescending is a better one. Its sounds very much like the mindset behind Marie Atoinette's comment about the poor.

Besides, $50k is not good by US standards

It's above average income for an individual in the US.


It maybe above the median but its not above the average which makes my point nicely. The average is higher because there are people making significantly larger salaries.

I never said it was poverty but its not a healthy income even for one person.

Its solidly middle class for one person.
