"Must have pretty cheap houses and cars where you live."

Housing is cheap. Our house cost us $61k 2 years ago.

You might not want to ever leave TX. $61k would barely buy a garage in most cities in this country. I can't believe how cheap housing is there.

re: Housing is cheap. Our house cost us $61k 2 years ago. Other costs are pretty low, it is mostly farming communities all around us.

Then maybe there you could make $50K work. Housing is ~30% of cost of living... here, a decent house is 2 to 2.5 X what it cost there. On $50K, you probably couldn't even qualify for a loan here.

You guys probably don't believe in the housing bubble, eh?
