MP,

11 years sounds about right. It was around the Lopez wave in 93/94 that this talk was very popular. And Ford was doing the Trotman thing of Ford 2000 and program teams. All in the name of cost containment and quality improvement by part base reduction. It all didn't work exactly as planned <g/ng>

I remember when they did the Ford 2000 thing and offered engineers two years of salary and an individual pension settlement to take a walk. Those guy took the cash and stepped down to the Tier One. I never really understood this idea, as they just paid the Tier One more. My point is the entire idea of smaller has never really worked in Detroit.

My Lincoln lease is up in July, but I do not recall any offer regarding residual value being made to me. I have no idea what I'm going to get next, but I do know that I am going to get it really cheap. It is a great time to be a buyer in the car market.

Have a great weekend.

TH
