Putting aside the "civilized" argument- since I don't have a dog in that fight, the spit kits are a really good idea. I think our police ought to have them.

Ah, "more civilized places like England..."

Regarding meter maids and spitting, London is now one of the most cosmopolitan and diversifed cities in the world.

In recent weeks two different people who had visited London said the same thing to me, that you rarely see a traditional "Londoner" on the streets any longer.

Probably just a coincidence, I suppose.
