Bush has promoted more people of minority background to higher posts then any before him.

I would agree with that. The question is why you chose to mention that in response to my post about the wisdom of winner-takes-all rule by the majority. In the context of our discussion, mentioning Bush's promotion of minorities makes about as much sense as mentioning that the sun rises in the east of that the latest Star Wars movie opened this week.

So why would you mention it? I have noticed over the last few years that, as these discussions devolve, someone brings up Rice or Powell out of the blue. (Sort of the way that devolved discussions often evoke Nazis from left field.) The only thing I can figure is that it's some kind of cut-off, like saying "yeah, but he loves his mother."

If you had some on-point reason for mentioning it, perhaps you can connect the dots for me.
