No, ethanol can be made from many sources. Iogen Corporation and others are developing methods to make ethanol directly from the cellulose in plant material. The sources can be crop wastes like straw and corn cobs, or purpose-grown perennial crops like switchgrass. The current method of producing ethanol from corn is a joke, but there's potential to wring out a lot of inefficiencies.

I bet a huge ethanol requirement is tucked in the Energy Bill.

only the requirement that refineries use 10% of ethanol blend in gasoline..ggggggggggg
