The main reason the current deficits are such a potential problem is because the looming problems in social security and medicare. The deficits themselves, while high enough to be a bad thing are not at very unusual levels measured against the size of the economy. But not very unusual, doesn't mean not high, and with other fiscal problems coming on the current deficits really do provide some reason for concern.

Are the twin deficits going to cause us a LOT of economic pain? YES, for sure.

Now who is stating his "opinion as if it was pure fact".

I actually don't see anything really wrong in doing so in this manner but if you have a problem with it than you shouldn't do it yourself.

How do you think the twin deficits are going to unwind?

I think they will be a drag on the economy (or more likely the steps needed to deal with them will be a drag on the economy) but I think we will muddle through it. I don't think they are going to go away any time soon, but I also don't think we are heading to the edge of a cliff because of them.
