I have an uncle by marriage who is/was a big NASCAR fan and participant in some way that I never knew. He had a lot of pictures of himself in the pits. They left NJ for Montana when I was still a kid because the trapping wasn't what it used to be. Wore a sports jacket with no tie to his wedding after a big struggle and never wore the jacket again. Nice guy, except for the animal heads mounted all over the house, that is. They gave me the creeps.

I've enjoyed watching formula 1 racing. The course isn't just an oval and the cars are sexy.

<<There are a lot of things you can watch that won't raise my eyebrow, but cars going around in circles for hours is just too bizarre for words.>>

But those cars are going 200 MPH inches apart. In a way it's like baseball, lots of strategy on when to pit, tire changes, drafting, etc. Also a lot of same ole same ole with periods of excitement.
