don't know if you've ever seen the tv nation show west wing... but i've been thinking lately.... could it be... every time 43 has to make a decision....someone plays the theme song from west wing.... you know... something uplifting... like a 12 step thang he experienced in the middle of a bunch of reformed drunks in midland texas... you know.. a wind beneath my wings thang.. without the smell of cheap beer or even daddy's top shelf scotch.... meanwhile.... what's really goin on, you know, when they leave the prayer room, that special place of mutually reinforcing bible study.... and return to traffic lights, stop signs, the family check book and the librarian..... they know, between hell, earth and heaven, there's their buds at the retreat inside the gospel and the self reinforcing smoke a dope metaphysics of their faith, their fatwa when the goin gets really tufff. meanwhile.... they learn to lie and cannot cope, while all around the traffic lights go blink, and the stop signs say stop, and the family check book is what it is.....they cope, and nobody else does who get in the way of their new found coping. fuck you george w.bush. you're not fooling any of the drunks I know.
