Seriously, I do not get where you're coming from or what axe it is you're grinding. I'm trying, but it isn't sinking in.

It sounds like you're arguing that the salient difference between liberal and conservative is that liberals use nuclear options and conservatives are more reserved and patient and statesmanlike. Surely that's not what you're saying, at least not this week. <g>

P.S. Not only do I know what federalism means, I understand "immanentize" and "eschaton."

Well, in keeping with my attempt to peel "liberal" and "conservative" back to basics -- William F. Buckley, the Father of Modern American Conservatism, defined liberals as people who want to immanentize the eschaton.

Ah Buckley, one of the few political writers who will cause me to reach for a dictionary...
