Well, I would never recommend "Titanic" with Leonard DiCaprio. That was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The British movie, "A Night to Remember" (based on the book of that name by Walter Lord) is a superb and faithful portrayal of the Titanic disaster.

I like watching "The Poseidon Adventure" and "The Last Voyage," both of which are fictional accounts of sinking ocean liners. The obligatory story lines of hopelessly trapped passengers who are miraculously saved may be hard to swallow if you are not a mind-numbed disaster movie junkie like me. (To make the "Last Voyage" the studio bought the retired Ile-de-France liner just so they could sink it on film. Ironically, it was the Ile-de-France which had saved most of the passengers on the Andrea Doria).

Right now I can't think of any other movies on this theme. If I do, I'll let you know.
