Re: "Even though the technology economy continued to struggle last year, Silicon Valley's top bosses collected pay as if they were still in the glory days of the Internet boom.

The valley's top executives saw their pay rise 57 percent last year

This is outrageous....more individual shareholders must start to vote against the wishes of management.

OT ... Amy J, how about an "OT" ... or better yet, how about starting a board on excessive executive compensation?

Market Pulse: Bears ups Intel's price target, estimates
Monday May 23, 7:37 am ET
By Tomi Kilgore

biz.yahoo.com

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Bear Stearns raised its stock price target and estimates for Intel's second quarter, citing evidence that the PC market was tracking at the high end of expectations. Analyst Gurinder Kalra kept his rating at outperform, but lifted his price target to $30 from $29, and now expects earnings of 29 cents a share for the current quarter, up from 27 cents. Kalra's revenue forecast was lifted to $9 billion from $8.9 billion and the gross margin estimate to 57% from 56%. The stock was up 33 cents, or 1.3%, at $26.68 in Instinet pre-open trading. "Despite concerns about weakness in desktop demand at PC original equipment manufacturers, our checks indicate that overall desktop builds are tracking at the high end of seasonality for the second quarter," Kalra said. "We are not seeing any evidence of an inventory buildup in notebooks currently, and we believe the strong notebook builds continue to be driven by real end market demand."

Executive Compensation

Intels compensation appears to be lower than the averages for Silicon Valley companies, most of which are much smaller Since Intel has had a fair amount of senior exec turnover recently, the Intel compensation will probably increase.

Mike Fister Cash Bonus was probably a one time sign on bonus, for his walking away from Intel Options and Bonuses.
