Michael Medved nailed it on his program today.

Since losing the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives, the only power dems (thought, or hoped, they) had left were judicial appts. The reason they don't want these individuals confirmed is that they represent the philosophical opposite of them.

We all know that judges are not supposed to be political, and that the sole duty of Judges is to interpret the law. It is well known that these nominees will make decisions based on the laws of the land rather than political opinion.

Democrats prefer judges who do base judgements on political opinion.......theirs.

In other words.......they won't rule from the bench and they can't be bought. (my words)
