Exactly.

WSC entered politics as a Tory, like his father. He then became a Liberal, then returned to the Tory fold. But he didn't fit comfortably in either tent. Larger than life figures rarely do. Reminds me of something Churchill is rumored to have said: "Don't you know you are in the presence of a great man?" or something like that
