My family in general is not science oriented, for as many generations as I can trace back. We are all artistic or word-oriented people. I took biology to get out of chemistry, because I could not understand chemistry at all. Physics was not even a possibility. This is our typical family strategy to survive college.

So I was really fascinated when my daughter started talking about quantum mechanics at the dinner table, and was able to explain the thing about light particles and the possible explanation of a parallel universe by drawing a quick sketch. She learned about it in her philosophy of religions class. I was really impressed! She has escaped the family curse. Well, one of the many family curses . . .
