I'm seeing the "For Sale" signs in the single-family enclaves along the base of the hills separating the city from the valley. This is Beverly Hills to Hollywood. "For Sale" signs are tough to find in the flats. The current mania is almost exclusively in the condo market. More people can still afford an $800k condo than a $2 million home.

I ought to check further up into the hills. That's where the rot started in late 1989. Once people buy a home up on Wonderland, or other areas adjoining Mulholland Drive, I think they become quickly disenchanted travelling a half hour at fifteen miles per hour just to get to the supermarket.
