Those are your opinions. You are entitled to them, but they don't represent concrete reality. They are at least as polarized towards the right as the Toronto Sun reporter or any of the people you perceive as liberals on this thread. Karzai is so disliked in Afghanistan that there is not entity there that can be trusted with his protection. That is why he is pretty much limited to Kabul and protected by U.S. troops. That doesn't sound like a fledgling democracy to me, although I hope it becomes one soon.
