You are talking I think about mo-mo stocks.... like TZOO, OSTK, TASR, etc.

But even those stocks are not really driven by news, and the hype is intended for the retailers, not the professionals. They need a "designated bag-holder!"

But I think it is a mistake to think the hype is driving the stock. Hype never drives a stock, buying power does. Big, professional buying power. True, hype and news and "market hysteria" may accompany that, but I just don't see it as a cause of anything important in the vast majority of cases.

Yes. Very definitely, I agree. "Overbought" can always become more overbought and stay there for quite a while. Here's a example:
